The Borno State COVID-19 Committee and Islamic Clerics, on Wednesday, consented to hold the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer.
Alhaji Umar Kadafur, the state Deputy Governor in an announcement said that the choice was taken after a partners meeting including the COVID-19 board and Islamic clerics.
Kadafur said that Muslims in the state could watch the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the assigned Eid grounds between the long periods of 8a.m. also, 10a.m. to stamp the finish of Ramadan.
The board of trustees executive asked individuals above 60 years of age not to participate in the congregational prayer sessions.
“The Committee commends the cooperation and commitment of all and sundry towards the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the state,” he said.
Kadafur added that hand sanitisers have been provided at strategic locations as part of measures to tackle the spread of the disease in the state, NAN reports.
“The committee wishes to reiterate that the public should strictly observe the use of face masks and practice social distancing,” he added.
