The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is working on ways to seal a new deal which will see the Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST) delivering documents to schools and candidates’ certificates to their home addresses across the country.

Head of National Office, WAEC, Mr. Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan, made the disclosure in Abuja on Friday after a visit to the visited the Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO NIPOST, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi.

Areghan explained that the purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration with NIPOST in the area of logistics in the form of using the postal service’s locked up vans to deliver WAEC’s documents and candidates’ certificates.

According to the WAEC boss, the move would afford opportunities to candidates who sat for examinations in the past but have not collected it, to easily apply for their certificates and get them wherever they reside.

He laid specific emphasis on collaborating with Cross River state NIPOST office, where he said WAEC office was recently burnt by hoodlums protesting during the #EndSARS mayhem in Calabar.

In his response, the NIPOST CEO/Postmaster General of the Federation commended WAEC for what he called its laudable achievements.

A six-man ad-hoc committee was set up to work out details of the deal.
