An Ilorin High court, Tuesday, condemned one AbdulWahab Adebayo, to about fourteen days prison term in a remedial office for accepting telephone calls during court procedures.
We reports that Justice Sikiru Oyinloye saw Adebayo as liable of upsetting the court procedures with his telephone discussions.
Oyinloye said that the convict distracted the court and when he was summoned by the police officer attached to the court, he refused
“The convict would not quit upsetting the court until another police officer dragged him off the court. He also exhibited a rude attitude in court, as he shouted and claimed to be innocent.
The court premises is certainly not a business telephone call focus where anyone can get or make calls as they wish.
“People commit contempt of court with negligence. Ignorance of the law is an offense, I hereby sentence you to two weeks imprisonment without an option of fine,” the judge ruled.
Arguing for kindness, Adebayo said,” I needed to gather cash for my sick mother from my sibling and couldn’t meet him before getting to court premises, I had to make the call out of frustration,” he said.
