The heartthrobs of yesterday have aged. Call them what you want: heartthrobs, Nollywood ‘fine girls’, female love interests…in the 90s and early 2000s, these women dominated the Nollywood scene as the “fine girls” that carried most Nigerian romantic movies.
Their characters were always caught in some kind of web of love that was either abominable, not supported by one’s family, or that had turned sour.
Last week, I compiled a list of 13 Nollywood fine boys and how they look now and you seemed to really enjoy that list. So today, for your sake, I’m extending this list now to the fine women of Nollywood. You’re welcome. Are you ready to jump into this list? Then, let’s go.
1. Sandra Achums
Sandra Achums is a beautiful Nollywood actress that graced Nollywood movies that year appearing in classic movies such as Outcast, Circle of Tears, and Ashanti. The beautiful Nollywood actress sizzled and burned up our screens with her powerful performances and killer looks. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Sandra still has it?
2. Caroline Ekanem
Caroline Ekanem, now Caroline Danjuma, is a Nollywood actress who made her screen debut in 2004, starring in Deadly Care. Following that movie, she went on to star in a couple of other Chico Ejiro’s popular films including Deadly Kiss, Missing Angel, and The Captor. The actress was known for her striking good looks and impeccable talent. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Caroline still has it?
3. Stella Damasus
Stella Damasus has been around for some time now. Starting very young, she played the role of the love interest quite a lot. Her good looks and strong acting skills kept her getting booked and the actress has had a very extensive time in Nollywood even though these days she doesn’t act as much as she used to. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Stella still has it?
4. Nkiru Sylvanus
Nollywood cry-baby and girl unlucky at love, Nkiru Sylvanus broke many hearts that year with her gut-wrenching and tear-jerking performances. The actress popular for acting in movies like Egg of Life, Alice My First Lady, and Green Snake was gorgeous and had her picture posted on so so many salon posters. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Nkiru still has it?
5. Alex Lopez
Alex Lopez was another woman who because of her beautiful looks was often cast in movies as the seductress. The actress appeared in movies such as Changing Faces and Journey to Self. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Alex still has it?
6. Georgina Onuoha
Georgina Onuoha was the beautiful actress that blazed up Nigerian screens appearing in movies including Egg of Life and Wrong Desire. The actress is no longer involved in the Nollywood scene but her work is still as good as it ever was when revisited. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Georgina still has it?
7. Benita Nzeribe
Benita Nzeribe was Nigeria’s go to bad girl that year. The cigarette smoking, “bad influence” actress was notorious for making people love her characters even when they were doing the most awful things. A lot of that was of course in major part due to Benita’s looks and natural talent. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Benita still has it?
8. Regina Askia
Did you get a bigger bombshell than Regina Askia that year? She was hands down the hottest thing on Nollywood screens that year to the extent that people who had never even seen her knew her name. The actress is no longer involved in Nollywood but she’s forever a Nollywood icon. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Regina still has it?
9. Lilian Bach
Lilian Bach was the ajebutter of Nollywood that year. Her light skin and amazing acting made her the top candidate when it came to casting movies of the ajebutter girl that was the object of every man’s affection. The girl no ordinary man could ever get. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Lilian still has it?
10. Shan George
Another Nigerian bad girl that year, Shan George, appeared in movies like Outcast, Blood Diamonds, and Thorns of Rose. The versatile actress with her good looks and bad behavior caused so much trouble on screen. She was the girl that everybody loved to hate. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Shan still has it?
11. Ibinabo Fiberesima
Ibinabo Fiberesima that year was the subject of so much controversy and attention, due in large part of course because of the way she looked. She was beautiful and of course that brought a lot of attention her way. On screen too Ibinabo sizzled. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Ibinabo still has it?
12. Yvonne Nelson
Turning our heads to Ghana a little, Yvonne Nelson was a girl who when we all first saw had to do a double take because she was stunning! The beautiful Ghanian actress made a huge impression on Nollywood viewers all over the world. Now that so much time has passed, do you think Yvonne still has it?
13. Nadia Buari
Finally, this list will not be complete without the gorgeous Nadia Buari that had everybody’s neck breaking that year. The beautiful actress that appeared in movies like Darkness of Sorrow and Beyonce & Rihanna was renowned for her incomparable beauty. Now tat so much time has passed, do you think Nadia still has it?
