Nigerians have been cautioned from consuming soaked garri.
This call was made by Dr Boniface Okolo, the chief of Public Health, Enugu state.
As per him, this must be done on request to avoid from contacting Lassa fever. The medicinal specialist gave the warning when he talked with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Saturday, January 18.
He argued that rats are most times in contact with garri and that the rodents are the reason for the sickness, Daily Trust reports.
Going further, he said the consumption of garri must be discouraged.
He pointed out that adding hot water would have killed the bacterial causing the disease.
