The dream of a man identified as Gift Odoh, has finally become reality after several years in a Nigerian university, studying a course he ought to have finished sooner.
Odoh posted on LinkedIn that he earned a scholarship abroad after wasting two extra years on a 5-year programme because of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strikes and “unnecessarily long sessional breaks”.
Sharing his story, the lucky man said while he was in school, some of his mates who studied in private universities had gone into other phases of their lives like marriage.
Odoh went further to state that many Nigerian scholarship programmes rejected him, however, his challenges came to a halt when the University of Nottingham gave him a whopping £24,390 scholarship.
