Son-in-law to Senator Rochas Okorocha identified as Dr. Uzor Anwuka will be flown abroad for treatment after three f.a.i.l.e.d s.u.r.g.e.r.i.e.s.
This is coming days after he was allegedly s..h..o..t in Owerri when suspected hoodlums a.t.t.a.c.k.e.d the former Governor of Imo state.
According to report, the American trained medical doctor was s..h..o.t on the left leg by the hoodlums who attacked Okorocha when he attempted to unseal one of his properties, the Royal Spring Palm Hotel which was s..e.i.z.ed by the State Government.
Recounting his ordeal when his father-in-law visited him at the hospital, Anwuka said he’s been at the hospital for six days and not g..e.t.t.i.n.g any better after being operated on three times.
He said;
“On the day of the incident my father-in-law called me that he was in Owerri to see his seized property and I drove down their to see him.
“On getting there, I saw a crowd of thugs. They had g..u.ns, c.u.t.l.a.s.s.e.s and other dangerous w..e.a.p.o.n.s, they started h..a.r.a.s.s.i.n.g everyone including my father-in-law (Okorocha).
“It was when they were asked to round us up that they started s..h.o.o.t.i..n.g. I made to climb the fence but I was hit by b..u.l.l.e.t and I fell into the bush and I was there for several hours before I was rescued and brought to the hospital.
“I have been in this hospital for six days and my leg have been o..p.e.r.a.t.ed three times but it is not g.e.t.t.i.n.g better. So I will be going out to get a better treatment”.
Okorocha on his own part described the attack as an a..s.s.a.s.i.n.a.t.i.o.n attempt on his life. He added that his major concern is to save his son-in-law.
The senator representing Imo West said;
“What I am concerned now is about his life, I thank God that he is alive but the report I am getting from the hospital is not quite pleasing regarding the three surgeries so far conducted since his arrival and we are hoping that he should be flown out of the country immediately for further examination.
” It is really sad, this is an a.s.s.a.s.i.n.a.t.i.o.n attempt, but I thank God he is alive. We’ve concluded arrangements with the hospital to move him out because they are suggesting that he may need some transplant, to cut some part, but we are hoping it will get better”.
