Ordue Akume, a middle-aged man, has been reportedly t..0…r…t..u..r..e..d to d.e.a.t.h over a m.i.s.s.i.n.g goat in Benue state.
NEWSGIST learnt that the incident happened at Lessel community, in Ushongo Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, February 23.
It was also gathered that the youngest sibling of the d.e.c.e.a.s.e.d allege.d.ly reported to the youths in the community that his goat was missing.
During investigation, they decided to consult an oracle, who revealed to them that it was the d.e.c.e.a.s..e.d that s…t…0..l.e the goat.
The deceased however d.e.nied the the allegation but in a bid to ensure that he admitted and return the said goat, the suspects persisted with all f.o.r.m.s of t..o.r.t.u.r.e despite pleas by neighbours and passers by to halt the t..o..r..t.u..r…e..
When it became obvious to them that he could not s…u…r…v…i…v…e, they moved and dumped him at a p..r..i..v..a..t.e clinic where he p.a.s.s.e.d a.w.a.y.
Reacting to the barbaric act, Ushongo Council chairman, Hon. Asawa, ordered the immediate arrest and p.r.o.s.e.c.u.t.i.o.n of the six men who t.0.r.t.u.r.e.d the man to d.e…a..t..h.
Asawa also visited the clinic where the c..0…r…p..s.e was abandoned and moved it to General Hospital, Lessel morgue for further necessary action.
Meanwhile, the six suspects are currently in police custody.
