Nigerian critic and social commentator, Reno Omokri says that some rich people do not wish for poor people to become wealthy like them.
According to him, such wealthy persons decided to coin the saying ‘Money cannot buy happiness’ in order to ensure the poor and less privileged remain in an impoverished condition.
He stated this in a tweet on Thursday, March 18, 2020, while asking if people don’t feel happy after receiving credit alerts.
Omokri noted that the rich who came up with the saying, feel poor people would threaten their wealth, but according to the former presidential aide, they are wrong because money is conducive to happiness.
He tweeted;
”The phrase ‘money cant buy happiness’ was invented by happy rich people to prevent the poor from threatening their wealth! Money is very, very, very, conducive to happiness! Are you not happy when you get bank alerts? Was it poverty that caused it?”
