We Spent N920Million On COVID-19 Pandemic – Katsina Deputy Governor Says

Katsina State rapid response team on COVID-19 says it has expended N920m out of the over N1b it gathered as donations in the ongoing fight against the pandemic, chairman of the team and deputy governor of the state, Mannir Yakubu, has said

Most of the monies were used for setting three functional isolation centres, rehabilitation, upgrading and conversion of 150 bed capacity hostels at NYSC and 200 bed capacity center at Batagarawa.

Others include; setting up 10 bed capacity holding centre at each of the 23 general hospitals as well as facilitating accreditation of Sahel medic lab as one of the approved center for testing.

Speaking at the flag-off of distribution of food palliatives donated by CACOVID in the state, Yakubu said, so far, 6,908 tests had been carried out in the state out of which 746 tested positive.

There were 24 death recorded with 705 discharged patients and 17 active cases,” he said

He said the state had also received 428,311 of the 469,742 assorted items donated to the state by the CACOVID, saying: ” We are assured that the outstanding will be delivered within the next two weeks.”
