The federal government has said the safety of students and teachers will be its need when schools continue despite COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has spoken about the difficulties of re-opening schools in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The minister of state for education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, made the announcement on Saturday, July 11, during an online class, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Nwajiuba said the government is working on how to make the educational system cope with the challenges posed by the pandemic, which has become the new normal.
“Most of the things we are working on are toward carrying learners forward in the new system during this pandemic,” the minister said.
In another report, a gathering set up to react to the coronavirus in Nigeria has asked the national government not to reopen schools.
The gathering, Anap Foundation COVID-19 Think Tank, said reopening schools at this time could expose pupils, students, teachers and their families to risks of COVID-19 infection, Daily Trust reported.

Then, President Muhammadu Buhari has been solicited to sack the Minister of education, Adamu, over the proceeded with conclusion of schools in the nation.
