A lady distinguished as Torkwase Queen Ayakpa, 37, set up her own kidnap so as to get N20,000 from her sister, police said on Wednesday in Abuja.

Ayakpa was one of 24 suspects paraded by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for different offenses.

She reportedly confessed that she conspired with one Fidelis Ikule, 36, to stage the kidnap.

Ayakpa, a hairdresser, said she did it since her business was done doing admirably due to the coronavirus pandemic, adding that she likewise needed to test if her sister truly adored her.

Ayakpa said her sister had turned down her request for money.

Ayakpa and her associate were captured after the police followed the calls they were making for the payoff to Ikule’s home in Mashafa Village, Mpape, Abuja, where they were staying.

Ayakpa, from Benue State, said she ventured out from home on July 20, 2020 and called her sister disclosing to her she had been hijacked and her abductors requested N20,000 to free her.

Magistrate of Police Bala Ciroma said different suspects were captured for armed robbery, cultism, vehicle robbery and extortion.
