It was quite surprising for Nigerians on Monday as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, major General Muhammadu Buhari sacked all his service chiefs. Lots of Nigerians have often called for their resignation especially after the lekki incident that occurred on the 20th of October 2020. The chief of Army staff, Brutai received most of the heat after the lekki incident. Lots of Nigerians believe he has a hand in the alleged lekki shooting that really threw most Nigerians off balance.
After the appointment of the new service chiefs, the president has urged the new appointees to serve the country with all their heart and strength. The new Service Chiefs are: Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff.
Furthermore, few days after Brutai and other service chiefs were sacked, Brutai has aired a view on the end of insurgency in Nigeria.
According to Channels TV, Lt General Takuru Buratai Has thanked the governor of Borno state for his aid to the Nigerian army against insurgents in the state. Brutai who also hails from Borno State noted during a Pulling Out Parade held in his honour at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja on Friday. In some of his remark, he said;
“Governor Zulum came with a unique leadership and I assure you, collectively, the Nigerian Army and the Borno State Government will end this insurgency within the shortest possible time.”
