A former governorship candidate in Lagos Babatunde Gbadamosi has urged past governors and deputy governors of Lagos to return pensions collected in the past, saying that was the only condition for him to welcome Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s plan.

We reports that Mr Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday announced to the State House of Assembly his intention to repeal the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007) which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former governors and their deputies.

“I would welcome this, as long the all previous beneficiaries are made to return EVERYTHING they took from the state under this Tinubu law,” Mr Gbadamosi a real estate developer tweeted.

“Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members of the House, in light of keeping the costs of governance low and to signal selflessness in public service, we will be sending a draft executive bill to the House imminently for the repeal of the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former governors and their deputies,” Sanwo-Olu had told the assembly.
